Charitable Fashion: Nest

Posted on April 3, 2011

What is better than getting unique accessories? Getting them and making a difference in the world. Nest is a nonprofit organization that teams artisans from all around the world with established designers, creating a mentorship program which incorporates interest-free microfinance loans while also providing a marketplace to sell their crafts. This enables the people that Nest helps to create their own small business, instilling pride, offering self-sufficiency and preserving artistic traditions.

Some great companies collaborate or sponsor Nest: Lord and Taylor, Trina Turk, Kate Spade, Feed, Cosmopolitan Magazine and Tory Burch, to name a few.

There are so many items, it was hard to peruse them all. There are a few things that I definitely want. I love these Temple Beads by Lolita from India for only $5(!!). It comes in four colors (natural, blue, red and orange) and I dare you to not want one in every color. They’d look great paired together.

I also want this vintage Lucite Jet Black Drop Necklace for $48. Not only will the proceeds help communities around the globe but this particular piece is made from an old chandelier, meaning that it is also green.
